About Rachael Martin
M.Mus, PGDip Guided Imagery and Music, PGDip Music Therapy (Hons), B.Mus (Hons), A.MusA (Piano and Electone)
Rachael has had a lifelong love of music and has incorporated this into her life, work and study in many ways - from teaching music to young children, to running music therapy programs for older adults in aged care homes, and pursuing research into music therapy techniques to assist performers with managing the stresses of performing.
Since 2002 Rachael has worked in music therapy and music education in a range of settings that include music schools, aged care facilities, community organisations, and running her own private therapy practice and teaching studio. She also presents guest lectures in the music therapy department of the University of Melbourne and has been invited to speak at national music therapy conferences and professional development seminars. Her research into working with performers experiencing anxiety has been published in the text "Guided Imagery and Music Therapy and Music Imagery Methods for Individual and Group Therapy".
Rachael holds registrations as a Music Therapist with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and as a Guided Imagery and Music Therapist with the Music and Imagery Association of Australia (MIAA).
